2025-26 HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER:
Physics and Physical Science
Union Day School is seeking a passionate and qualified High School Science Teacher with experience in teaching Physical Science and Physics. The ideal candidate will also have a strong background in computer science. This position requires a dynamic educator committed to fostering a rigorous and engaging learning environment that aligns with North Carolina state standards and the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons in Physical Science and Physics.
- Utilize various teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learners.
- Develop and assess student learning through projects, experiments, and real-world applications.
- Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary connections.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff to support student success.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Support extracurricular science-related activities (e.g., robotics club, science fair, coding competitions, etc.).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Science Education, Physics, Physical Science, or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid North Carolina teaching license in Science (9-12) or eligibility for NC licensure.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in Physical Science and/or Physics at the high school level preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer science.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) program.
- Strong background in engineering, coding, or data analysis.

Compensation:
- Based upon experience, degree/certification, NC State Salary Guide and the Union County Licensed Teacher Supplement.
