Experienced Optician Needed at Multiple Union Eye Care Centers
Union Eyes LLC is the eye care branch of 8 Union Wellness Centers. We are actively looking for an experienced team member to apply for an exciting opportunity to be a part of a historic endeavor providing eye care exclusively to the hard-working union men and women in Illinois. Compensation depends on experience and skill level, including access to 401 K benefits, medical benefits, and a flexible work environment. This is a travel-based position with responsibilities in multiple locations as required. Your primary schedule will be determined after training, which will include our Rosemont and Crystal Locations Once training is complete you will have a weekly schedule consisting of 4 days per week and 2 Saturdays a month.

Our opticians will be responsible for the selection, fitting, and adjustment of glasses and will initially be expected to answer phones, be responsible for patient scheduling and other tasks while providing a great interpersonal experience for our patients. We are looking for a candidate who has some experience in the medical field, exceptional communication skills with preference given to individuals who speak multiple languages. We require an individual who is flexible, willing to travel, can multitask, and most of all has the passion to be instrumental in helping to be a part of this historic endeavor in the labor community.
Candidate requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the medical field
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- The availability to work full or part-time including one or a maximum of two Saturdays per month
- RevolutionEHR experience is a plus
- The passion to assist in other tasks that aid in office efficiency and the growth of the practice
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality 5-star customer care to Union members and their families at various locations.
- Skilled in fitting, adjustment, and dispensing glasses and safety eyewear
- Performing digital custom measurements for patients’ eyewear utilizing Optikam
- Assist the optometrist
- Pretesting including but not limited to:
- Testing patients on specialized diagnostic equipment such as Wam, Optos, and Olleyes
- Verifying patient’s glasses prescriptions using manual and/or auto lensometer
- Educate patients on the insertion, removal and care of contact lenses
- Educate patients on eyewear care and usage.
- To be familiar with our optical inventory and products to provide the most appropriate selections for the patient
- Edge lenses with in-house optical equipment with proper training
- Manage Office Communication Platforms: Efficiently handle communications through various platforms including phone, email, fax, Weave, and Google Sheets. Ensure timely and professional responses to all inquiries and maintain accurate records.
- Operate specialized diagnostic equipment
- Answer phones to schedule patients
- Covering all locations on a need basis
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Have the willingness and flexibility to learn and adapt in a variety of situations
