The Role

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Eisner & Crane Lake Camps are seeking a dynamic and strategic Capital Campaign Manager to lead the day-to-day management of a multi-million-dollar fundraising campaign. The Campaign Manager will be integral to driving financial support to modernize these beloved camps and ensure they remain competitive in the marketplace. This role is critical to the success of the campaign, expanding the URJ donor base, and fostering lasting relationships with donors. While this is a time-limited position through the conclusion of the campaign, expected by 12/31/30, it provides a unique and impactful opportunity to shape the future of Jewish camping and support a transformative mission. What You Will Do

The ​Capital Campaign Manager​ reports to the Development Director of URJ Eisner & Crane Lake Camps and is responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and the campaign team to ensure the effective execution of the campaign, meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.

  • Serve as a key driver in raising the $36M needed to fund essential capital projects, particularly those focused on the reinvention and modernization of Eisner and Crane Lake Camps.

  • Plan, organize, and execute impactful campaign events, including small group cultivation receptions, synagogue lay leader visits to camp, and prospect visits to camp.

  • Work closely with the camp teams to ensure events are well-coordinated and effectively drive engagement and financial support for the campaign.

  • Conduct comprehensive research on potential donors to determine appropriate gift levels and strategic approaches.

  • Prepare detailed briefing documents for donor meetings, ensuring a well-informed, personalized, and targeted solicitation approach.

  • Lead and support multiple volunteer committees responsible for soliciting gifts, ensuring they are motivated, engaged, and aligned with the campaign’s objectives.

  • Coordinate committee meetings, track progress, and provide strategic guidance to ensure campaign milestones are met.

  • Identify and cultivate new, diverse funding sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, to expand the URJ donor base.

  • Develop a strategic pipeline for donor outreach to engage a broader, more diverse base, particularly individuals who are not currently URJ donors.

  • Oversee the management of campaign activities within Salesforce, ensuring accurate tracking of donations, interactions, and campaign metrics.

  • Ensure timely and personalized donor stewardship, including sending acknowledgment letters, campaign newsletters, and making personal calls to major donors to express gratitude and update them on campaign progress.

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas:

Fundraising & Campaign Management: Proven experience in managing large-scale fundraising campaigns, with a demonstrated ability to raise significant funds. Ability to identify new potential donors, particularly from untapped or underrepresented sources, and engage them effectively in the campaign. Skilled in nurturing donor relationships, ensuring proper acknowledgments, and maintaining long-term connections to encourage future giving.

Project & Event Management: Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks and events, ensuring deadlines and goals are met efficiently. Experience planning and executing donor cultivation events that engage and inspire potential donors, from small receptions to larger-scale visits or events. Attention to detail, especially in managing donation records, donor communications, and event logistics. Experience organizing events, including coordinating logistics, managing timelines, and handling on-site needs.

Self-Management & Accountability: Strong ability to assess priorities and manage time effectively to meet goals while ensuring personal well-being. Competence in establishing goals aligned with organizational objectives and collaborating with management for clarity. Skill in articulating needs and challenges clearly to foster a transparent and collaborative environment. Commitment to maintaining respectful communication and timely responses to colleagues and stakeholders. Initiative in regularly accessing organizational updates and essential information to stay informed and effective.

Collaborative Teamwork: Ability to work with diverse teams to achieve shared goals, ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities. Proficient in scoping projects and using frameworks to define purpose, outcomes, and accountability. Skill in managing time and resources to meet commitments on schedule and within budget while addressing challenges respectfully. Willingness to learn about the broader organizational context and strengthen collaborative initiatives. Capacity to connect people and ideas to identify and implement opportunities for enhancement across teams. Skill in valuing diverse perspectives to develop comprehensive solutions and foster a culture of inclusion.

  • some travel for in person campaign events is expected

  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar donor management systems to track donations, generate reports, and manage contact information preferred.
