Capital Campaign Coordinator

Location: Hybrid (Some in-person meetings; potential of living in residence at camp during the summer)

The Role

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Henry S. Jacobs Camp is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Capital Campaign Coordinator to lead efforts in expanding the URJ’s impact and growing financial support for key initiatives. This role will be crucial in driving the success of Jacobs Camp’s $10 million capital campaign, which is designed to secure the future of Judaism in the Deep South. As the primary point of contact for the Campaign Cabinet, volunteers, and consultants, the Capital Campaign Coordinator will manage campaign logistics, donor relations, and campaign communications, ensuring smooth execution and achievement of campaign goals.

This is a time-bound position lasting through the conclusion of the campaign, expected in December 2027.

What You Will Do

The Capital Campaign Coordinator reports to Development Director and is responsible for the following:

Campaign support & Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and execute campaign meetings, training sessions, cultivation activities, solicitations, and special events.

  • Oversee the campaign calendar, ensuring all activities are scheduled and managed efficiently.

  • Track and manage incoming pledges, payments, and donations, ensuring accurate processing.

  • Acknowledge and thank donors, issue receipts, and maintain clear documentation of all donations.

  • Coordinate logistics for campaign awareness events, including some local travel and occasional work outside of regular hours.

  • Manage the Salesforce database, inputting donor data, gift opportunities, and tracking progress on pledges and donations.

  • Assist the Development Director in preparing donor proposals and solicitation materials for volunteers.

  • Collaborate with marketing consultants to create promotional materials and enhance campaign visibility.

  • Research and identify new prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, for potential campaign involvement.

  • Provide support for additional campaign-related tasks as needed.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a point of contact for the Campaign Cabinet, volunteers, and community leaders, providing regular updates and fostering engagement.

  • Maintain close communication with the Camp Director, Development Director, and Campaign Consultants to align on campaign progress.

  • Engage with donors and prospects, effectively communicating the mission and goals of the campaign to inspire support.

  • Handle incoming communications (calls, emails, etc.) from donors, volunteers, and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

Project & Event Management: Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks and events, ensuring deadlines and goals are met efficiently. Attention to detail, especially in managing donation records, donor communications, and event logistics. Experience organizing events, including coordinating logistics, managing timelines, and handling on-site needs.

Donor Relations: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers, and stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey campaign objectives clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences. Understanding of capital campaigns, solicitation strategies, and best practices for donor engagement. Ability to research and identify potential new donors, organizations, and foundations to support the campaign.

Self-Management & Accountability: Strong ability to assess priorities and manage time effectively to meet goals while ensuring personal well-being. Competence in establishing SMARTIE goals aligned with organizational objectives and collaborating with management for clarity. Skill in articulating needs and challenges clearly to foster a transparent and collaborative environment. Commitment to maintaining respectful communication and timely responses to colleagues and stakeholders. Initiative in regularly accessing organizational updates and essential information to stay informed and effective.

Collaborative Teamwork: Ability to work with diverse teams to achieve shared goals, ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities. Proficient in scoping projects and using frameworks like MOCHA to define purpose, outcomes, and accountability. Skill in managing time and resources to meet commitments on schedule and within budget while addressing challenges respectfully. Willingness to learn about the broader organizational context and strengthen collaborative initiatives. Capacity to connect people and ideas to identify and implement opportunities for enhancement across teams. Skill in valuing diverse perspectives to develop comprehensive solutions and foster a culture of inclusion.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • occasional in-person meetings, as needed

  • some level of direct experience in professional fundraising.

  • some travel for in person campaign events is expected.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar donor management systems to track donations, generate reports, and manage contact information preferred.

  • Opportunity may be available to take on a seasonal staff role as Summer Office Support. This would require living in residence at camp during the camp season.
