SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Will be designated as a driving aid and will be trained to drive the food truck as a back-up driver. Pick up donations and transport inventory between sites. Operate forklift to manage inventory in the Culinary Warehouse.
Oversee the receiving, loading, un-loading, storing and distributing of all food donations and Gift-In-Kind products providing adequate food supplies to each UGM facility. This individual will serve as the onsite supervisor for the daily operations of the Spokane Warehouse while also working with a team of volunteers, community service guests and work clients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1 DRIVING, LOADING, UNLOADING DONATIONS
• Coach volunteers, community service workers and clients on UGM’s culture and core values; adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
• Inform the Warehouse Manager of all critical culinary operations.
• Account for all food donations and report on the Daily Weight Sheet and provide to the Warehouse Manager by the end of each workday.
• Implement and maintain health department, 2nd Harvest, and OSHA standards.
• Drive UGM vehicles safely, always aware of surroundings and observing traffic regulations.
• Complete daily pickup schedule arranged by Warehouse Manager.
• Load, transport and unload items in a safe, efficient manner that protects donations from damage.
• Thoroughly complete donation receipts and required paperwork with accuracy and return to Warehouse Manager.
• Assure vehicles are clean, in good condition, safety checks are completed before, during and after driving.
Key Result Area #2: INTAKE
• Assist donors by making immediate assessments of donations and unloading acceptable items.
• Implement donation guidelines graciously turning down unacceptable items.
• Prepare a receipt for donors who desire one and distribute newsletter or other advertisement.
• Separate donated items into designated categories, with another inspection for acceptability.
Key Result Area #3: WAREHOUSING
• Maintain good communication with Donors, Ministry Partners, Work Clients, Volunteers and all other Staff.
• Communicate weekly/daily with work clients, regarding schedules, updates and unplanned changes per Culinary Warehouse Manager.
• Verify protective equipment is worn, and safety protocol is followed throughout each workspace.
• Attend culinary operations, required site specific, and UGM meetings
• Operate forklift to manage inventory observing safety guidelines and performing daily maintenance.
• Sort and prepare items for recycling and trash.
• Assist with warehouse daily tasks, cleaning, sorting, and rotating food items.
• Perform outside cleaning duties i.e., pickup/ empty trash, snow removal, de-icing, sweeping, etc.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5-7 years clean driving record
• Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and instructional.
• Prove to be teachable: organized with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at once; able to listen and follow instructions.
• Able to work on your feet 8 hours a day five days a week.
• Able to lift 10-50lbs frequently.

• Work indoors and outdoors. It requires climbing stairs, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching - Continuously.
• Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the UGM sites and other businesses on a regular and ongoing basis – Continuously.
• Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
• Variety of tools used, i.e. Trucks, vans, dollies, forklift, carts, pallet jacks etc.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• 2-5 years driving experience.
• High school
