BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluating vehicle inventory to identify suitable candidates for repairs, Wholesale and recycling.
• Organizing the lot and facility, maintaining neat storage of vehicles and clear isles as well as miscellaneous items.
• Occasional transport of assets.
• Other duties as assigned.
• This position incorporates elements of Lot Attendant, Tire Technician, Entry Level Technician, and Tow Truck Driver.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Key Result Area #1: Check-in Process 

• Assist Inventory Manager by checking in new vehicle inventory.
• Use basic automotive tools and skills to start vehicles and determine if they can be driven and are safe to drive.
• Test drive to determine mechanical issues (Technical Automotive Diagnosis Required). 
• Notify the Inventory Manager that the vehicle is available to be driven. 
• Share assessment of the vehicle with the Inventory Manager so a decision can be made on the car i.e., (Recycle/Wholesale/Retail Production).
• Update location in Dealer Management System.
• Track and report daily work in Two-a-day Report.

Key Result Area #2: Lot Organization 

• Strategic organization of all vehicles and misc. inventory.
• Maintain functionality of the lot by moving and organizing vehicles.
• Network with other staff when assistance is required to move assets.
• Assist General manager, Inventory Manager and Sales Manager to prepare and maintain: Builders, Auction, Wholesale and other non-conventional
• groups for sale. This will include but is not limited to wheels and tires, fueling, driving, battery maintenance and other minor repairs.

Key Result Area #3: Assist Tow Truck Operator with incoming donations 

• Network with the tow Truck Driver to unload and park donations when assistance is requested.
• Advise the Tow Truck Driver where to Place incoming assets when asked.

Key Results Area #4 Other Duties 

There are frequent interruptions to normal daily operations, Inventory Technician must be flexible within reason to help solve problems and get things done that are not necessarily on someone's job description. 

• Pick up donations using a truck and vehicle hauling trailer using safe and proper materials and methods to
• secure and transport the assets over public roadways as needed.
• Aid in disposal of used tires. Assist Production Staff move immobile vehicles into and out of the shop.
• Snow removal.
• Transport Assets or staff to and from sublet.
• Tire inventory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Standing: Must be able to work in a standing position up to 8 hours per day in 4-hour intervals on concrete and asphalt surfaces.
• Sitting: Certain mechanical tasks may require the technician to work in the sitting position for up to 3-hour intervals with mobility breaks as necessary. Sitting surfaces will depend on the tasks being performed.
• Walking: Various tasks will require walking as much as 100 yards on concrete or asphalt surfaces. 10-20% of the day requires walking in multiple increments.
• Changing Positions: Flexibility is allowed in making frequent position changes (standing, sitting, and walking) as necessary to physically perform routine mechanical tasks.
• Carrying/Lifting: 80-90% of the day will be spent carrying objects that weight less than 10 lbs. Less than 5% of the day will be spent lifting objects that weigh over 10 lbs. but not more than 50 lbs. These objects may come in various shapes and sizes. If the object is too bulky and heavy, the technician must seek assistance.
• Pushing/Pulling: Various types of equipment (e.g., engine hoist, floor jacks, engine analyzer, air hoses, etc.) will require pushing and/or pulling. Pushing is also required when moving inoperative vehicles. Some objects will require up to 50 lbs. of torque or effort for 100 feet or less. Pushing/Pulling activities may require 10-15% of the day.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to: 

• Moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat, 
• Risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• Loud noise level. 
• Wet and/or humid conditions, Outside weather conditions.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

• Use hand tools. Use diagnostic equipment: code reader, block-tester, multi-meter and others. 
• Mounting and dismounting tires-using tire mounting machine. 
• Possess an intermediate level of computer skills with proficiency using MS Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and other database software.
• Be able to complete data entry and reporting accurately. 
• Hold a current driver’s license. 
• Have a good driving record and ability to be insured. 
• Have a forklift certification or be able to be certified. Must be teachable and willing to learn.
