SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Tow Truck Driver picks up donated vehicles from Donor’s residences as assigned by Resource Coordinators. They also transport vehicles to and from sublet repair shops, and to Pull-And-Save to be recycled as assigned by the Inventory Manager. Excellent Customer Service and transferring the cause of UGM are employed with every community partner. Interdependent working relationships with all staff and departments are essential for success. Fulfill other duties as assigned.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: Driving, Loading and Unloading Vehicles
- Daily pickups are completed as scheduled and arranged by the Resource Coordinator.
- Vehicles are safely loaded and unloaded protecting them from damage while in transit.
- Donation guidelines are implemented, returning acceptable donations for processing.
- Maintain an excellent safe driving record with no complaints or tickets.
- The pickup log is accurately completed each day and returned to Resource Coordinator
- The donation log is accurately completed and turned in to the Inventory Manager.
- Constant communication with the Resource Coordinator and Inventory Manager is maintained.
Key Result Area #2: Customer Service
- Every donor is greeted cheerfully with a smile and tactfully advised of donation guidelines.
- Donors have been appropriately thanked and opportunities to “Transfer the Cause” of UGM have been taken.
- Phone calls are answered promptly, and the callers needs responded to cheerfully with a smile.
- Maintains a professional appearance and good grooming habits.
Key Result Area #3: Vehicle Inspection and Safety and Vehicles Inspection
- The tow truck inspection and safety log is completed every day: fluids, tires and all safety requirements have been checked before driving.
- The tow truck is clean inside and out at the end of each shift.
- Regular maintenance is scheduled at least every three months with a qualified repair shop by the Production Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is primarily outdoors. It requires climbing, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - continuously.
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability operate tow truck and related equipment – continuously.
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.
- Requires lifting and moving up to 100 pounds - occasionally.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
- Tow Truck, truck and trailer, jump box, air compressor, hand and power tools (Not an all-inclusive list)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience driving a tow truck or other large truck or farm equipment preferred.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of automotive technology
- Very good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Chrome or other search engines, cell phone, tablet)
