UGM Camp Assistant Cook
June 16th – August 23rd, 2025
Temporary Full Time Position
OVERVIEW:
This job entails living on site at UGM camp for 10 weeks with weekends off. All lodging, food, training and equipment are provided free of charge for the full 10 weeks. UGM camp serves nearly 500 youth ages 8-12 from our areas poorest neighborhoods and shelters by providing a free 5-day camp for at-risk, low-income youth. Assistant Cook serves under the Camp Cook in various kitchen responsibilities and also participates in meetings, chapels and bible studies throughout the week.
DAILY/WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in rotating and stocking food weekly in partnership with UGM food services dept.
- Food prep and some cooking
- Works with camp cook to ensure all kitchen guidelines are followed
- Assists in preparing all meals in accordance with the weekly schedule and menu
- This position is supervised by Camp Cook
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion to work with children and youth
- Desire to work with at-risk, low-income populations
- Energetic, positive and willing to serve, can take good direction
- Some experience working in food meal prep and kitchens preferred
- Able to articulate a growing faith in Jesus Christ

- Must adhere to UGM’s drug and tobacco-free policies, sexual purity policy, and must be engaged in a Church Community.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is indoors and outdoors and may require climbing stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building -
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom experience homelessness, addiction and mental illness with –
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move all around the camp on a regular and ongoing basis –
