UGM Camp Summer Lifeguard/Facilitator - Program Staff
June 16th – August 23rd, 2025
Temporary Full Time Position
Overview:
This job entails living on site at UGM camp for 10 weeks with weekends off. All lodging, food, training and equipment are provided free of charge for the full 10 weeks. UGM camp serves nearly 500 youth ages 8-12 from our areas poorest neighborhoods and shelters by providing a free 5-day camp for at-risk, low-income youth. Camp staff provides trust building and free time activities throughout the day and participates in meetings, chapels and bible studies throughout the week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for oversight of the waterfront area located on the Spokane River
- Facilitate low ropes and trust / team building activities for each cabin. (training provided)
- Supervise free time activities such as waterfront, biking, sports activities
- Act as encouragement and support for each cabin and their cabin leaders
- Participate in camp activities, chapels, meals, meetings and trainings
- Washington State Lifeguard Certification
- CPR Certification
- Passion to work with children and youth
- Desire to work with at-risk, low-income populations
- Energetic, positive and willing to serve
- Some experience working in camp or youth work preferred
- Able to articulate a growing faith in Jesus Christ
- Adherent to UGM’s drug and tobacco-free policies, Sexual Purity, and engaged in a Church Community.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is indoors and outdoors and may require climbing stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - Continuously.
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom experience homelessness, addiction and mental illness with – continuously.
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move all around the camp on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.
- Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all of the ministry activities of Union Gospel Mission.
