What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEMPORARY-Camp Caretaker position at Union Gospel Mission of the Inland Northwest?
Job Title: Camp Caretaker/Maintenance/Groundskeeper

- Key Result Area #1: General Maintenance/Groundskeeping/Building Projects
- Repair / replace electrical devices such as light switches, outlets, circuit breakers, fuses, lamps & light fixtures, and ballasts
- Perform plumbing work such as clearing clogged toilets, urinals, sinks, and drain lines; install new plumbing lines, fixtures, and valves; repair water leaks
- Perform general cleaning, safety checks and light maintenance of camp vehicles
- Repair / replace ceramic tiles, baseboards, carpet, and other flooring products
- Work on locks and door hardware
- Install a variety of hardware, fixtures, and equipment
- Perform installation / repair work to sheetrock
- Perform other miscellaneous maintenance duties as requested
- Paint facility interiors / exteriors as directed
- Perform grounds keeping activities such as clearing snow, mowing lawns, raking leaves, trimming shrubs, and general maintenance such as clearing litter and debris from yards and parking lots
- Assist in general construction and implementation of camp building and repair projects
- Key Result Area #2: Custodial / Janitorial
- Have working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment, and be able to use them economically, efficiently, and safely
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures, refill soap and paper product dispensers, clean mirrors
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, carpet shampooer, high pressure washers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, windows, etc.
- Floor care to include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning hard surface floors, sweeping, and mopping in appropriate locations as needed
- Stock supplies in regional custodial closets; ensure spray bottles are properly labeled
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows; clean blinds; have cleaning rags and dust mops laundered
- Empty waste baskets, collect, and dispose of refuse
- Inventory cleaning supplies, paper products, trash can liners, and soap
- Ensures cleanliness, supply stocking, and readiness of all buildings, grounds and equipment before and after all rentals, groups, and ministry use
- Key Result Area #3: Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise rental groups and summer ministry work crews; train them in the proper use of chemicals and cleaning methods
- Lead volunteer groups or individual volunteers in special projects or ongoing custodial/maintenance needs
- Assist in implementing safety protocols per industry and Washington State standards
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to interact positively with camp staff, guests and summer campers
- Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written directions
- Have an understanding of industry standards or above for repair or maintenance projects
- Be a self-starter who is able to complete work with minimal oversight
- Able to work individually or as part of a team
- Have a Washington State driver’s license to drive vehicles assigned to the department
- Have or obtain First Aid/CPR, blood borne pathogen and required safety training, provided by the Union Gospel Mission
- PHYSICAL FACTORS
- Move equipment, supplies, and tools on a regular basis
- Have ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Able to pick up and carry 75 lbs. as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Aptitude for working with custodial and grounds keeping systems preferred
- Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all of the ministry activities of Union Gospel Mission.
- Subscribe to Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith and Qualifications for Employment upon hire and continuously while employed.
- Adhere to Union Gospel Mission Employee Handbook.
- Check in daily with camp administrator for assignments/projects
- Mow lawns once weekly
- Trim / spray weeds as needed
- Plow snow as needed
- Check/stock supply levels of all facilities
- Advise camp administrator of any issues pertaining to repairs or facility needs
- All above expectations
- Stock/place and refill water and Gatorade jugs throughout camp (daily)
- Check and empty all trash (daily)
- Check/stock supply levels of all facilities (daily)
- Do kitchen laundry and restock (daily)
- Perform work crew orientation (weekly)
- Check on work crew for progress and needs (daily)
- Inspect all facilities upon camp check out (weekly)
- Check with camp administrator for additional assignments/projects (daily)
