What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Development Assistant/Aide 5.75hr/day position at Union Hill School District?
MAJOR ROLE
Under supervision of the Director and/or Teacher, provide assistance with the implementation of child care programs provided by the Bearcat Discovery Center Program.
DUTIES
- Assists instructional personnel with monitoring students as they are engaged in individual and small group activities.
- Assist in the management of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies and techniques.
- Assist in the preparation of a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual and small groups of children.
- Assists with the maintenance of a variety of records and files (non-confidential in nature).
- Assist children with personal care needs such as: toileting, personal hygiene, eating, and napping.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe, orderly, attractive and positive learning learning environment.
- Assists with implementing authorized emergency and safety procedures.
- Understands the rationale and procedures for mandated Child Abuse reporting.
- Communicates positively with families and staff and refers questions or concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age, or, if under 18 years of age, currently participating in an occupational program conducted by an accredited high school or college.
- Ability to lift SO pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on the floor.
- Ability to comply with appropriate cleanliness standards, health and dress codes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Ability to write effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and district personnel.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude and demeanor.
SUPERVISION
The Child Development Aide will be under the direct supervision of the Director and/or Teacher of the Bearcat Child Development Center.
WORK YEAR
The work period for this position will be determined on as needed basis.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.44 - $25.31 per hour
Expected hours: 28.75 per week
