About the role
We are a grocery store, coffee shop, and deli, that showcases locally made products alongside nationally recognized brands. Our stores are where many local food products meet the DC community for the first time.
As General Manager at Union Kitchen, you will be responsible for :
Getting to know our wonderful customers and building relationships with the communityLearning about and selling our local food products and menu items, with special focus on our food business AcceleratorClearly communicating Union Kitchen goals, values, and strategies to motivate your team in alignment with our missionMaintaining inventory according to company standards and keeping a well stocked and visually appealing storeDeveloping and executing creative merchandising plans to drive salesDeveloping a high performing team that strives to go above and beyond the expectations of our customersWriting and managing employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all timesActing quickly and decisively to problem solve unforeseen issues with customers, Team Members, and facilitiesCrafting specialty beverages and prepared foods from the deliYou will excel in this role if you :
Have one or more years of experience managing a team in a retail and / or foodservice environmentEnjoy a fast-paced work environment that's centered around customer satisfactionAre passionate about local food, the business of food, and building communityCan effectively communicate and build relationships with customers and team members of all backgroundsLove challenging yourself to learn new skills and ways of operatingValue punctuality, and appreciate when everyone on the team shows up for each otherAre available to work early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and / or holidays, as neededCan commute to weekly departmental leadership meetings at various locations across the DC regionHave the ability to lift, push / pull, carry and / or move up to 30 poundsCan climb ladders, stairs, ramps and uneven floor and / or surfaces.Can squat, bend, twist and reach for items below waist level or above shouldersCan use your hands to reach, grip, turn and perform precision work. You’re using your hands to do things like operate espresso machines, perform basic knife work, and operate the registerThe pay range for this role is :
