Overview:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring that camp is safe, well maintained, and visually appealing during the summer camp season. The Maintenance Assistant supports the Janitor and reports to the Property Manager.
Specific Duties:
Maintenance Assistant Specific Tasks
- Maintain campgrounds to be aesthetically pleasing and usable throughout the summer.
- Assist the Property Manager in repairing issues on camp
- Keep Property Manager’s area and equipment clean and safe
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Assist the Janitor on camp to maintain cleanliness of all public areas on camp such as the bathrooms
- Provide a deep refresh cleaning of public areas before each session
- Report facility issues to Property Manager in timely manner
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to complete the duties of the position
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, sit for long periods of time
- Must have great communication skills, both verbal and written
General Camp Tasks
- Follow all camp rules and ensure that staff and campers are as well.
- Abide by Personnel Policies & Procedures of the ULBGC Camp.
- Follow all State of Wisconsin, American Camp Association, and other certifying body guidelines.
- Some lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Desire to work collaboratively on a team, with openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally
- Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day
Trainings and meetings
- Be trained by the Property Manager regarding specific job duties and responsibilities and safety
- Check in with the Property Manager daily.
Supervisory
- Ensure that staff are using equipment on camp properly and alert the Property Manager or Camp Director
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Requirements
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Passion to provide a positive camp experience to everyone who comes to camp
- Organized and detail oriented
- Great communication skills
- Good follow through on tasks
- Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred
- Nurse: must hold Wisconsin Nursing license or be able to attain it.
- Cook: must hold Serve Safe Manager certificate or be able to attain it.
