We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Chartering Manager to establish and lead our Houston office. This key role will be responsible for developing our presence in the region, overseeing spot and long-term chartering activities, and managing general shipping and logistics projects within the tanker sector. The ideal candidate will have strong market knowledge, a proactive mindset, and the ability to drive business growth.
1. Office Establishment & Business Development
- Lead the setup and development of our Houston office, aligning with company strategy and goals.
- Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to grow our presence in the U.S. and Americas region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Charterers, shipowners, brokers, operators, and cargo interests.
- Represent the company at industry events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
2. Spot & Long-Term Chartering/relationships (Tankers)
- Manage and execute spot chartering contracts, ensuring competitive positioning in the market.
- Develop and negotiate long-term charter agreements
- Monitor market trends, freight rates, and competitor activities to provide strategic recommendations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 5-10 years in tanker shipping, chartering, or freight trading.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of tanker markets, freight rates, and contract negotiations.
- Network: Established relationships with key players in the tanker industry (owners, brokers, and cargo interests).
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and build a new office from the ground up.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong commercial acumen with a track record of successful deal-making.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
