What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Union Metal Industries?
Responsibilities
- Manage accounting operations for GL, fixed assets and cost/inventory.
- Responsible for planning and administering the closing process on a month-to-month basis plus all related reconciliations required for monthly financial reporting (full balance sheet review)
- Preparation of financial and cost analysis as needed
- Responsible for accuracy and distribution of Corporate financial package
- Manage and preparation of budget and forecasting processes
- Monitor expenditures, analyzing variances, and work with operations on corrective actions
- Maintains accounting staff job results by coaching, counseling
- Present financial results for review to CFO and management team
- Recommend streamlining and simplification opportunities (work with IT/Epicor consultant)
- Work with IT/Epicor consultant on system enhancements, process improvements
- Oversee Day-to-Day Cost Accounting Functions
- Responsible for bank refinance reporting (covenant calculations) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Manage cashflow and overall payments to vendors
- Responsible for preparation and submitting bank borrowing base files monthly.
- Reviewing and submitting files submitted by finance and sending to bank as needed.
- Preparing and Reviewing completed borrowing base for accuracy and signature by CFO
- Responsible for all insurance related matters while working with the broker and CFO
- Responsible for taxes and tax related matters including annual filings, tax estimates, working with tax auditors and tax notice resolution
- Responsible for assisting in all technical accounting and related matters
- Oversee year-end physical inventory
- Oversee year-end financial audit and bank audits
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business Administration required.
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
