Facilities Technician
Union Mutual is seeking a full-time Facilities Technician to work as part of a professional and dynamic team environment. The successful candidate will live within reasonable driving distance of the Company's Montpelier, Vermont office.
The Facilities Technician is part of a team that is accountable for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the Home Office building in Montpelier, VT. This includes performing a wide variety of building maintenance tasks, including repairs, pro-active maintenance and cleaning activities, both inside and outside of the building. The Facilities Technician is also responsible for scheduling and overseeing the work performed by outside contractors such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc. The Facilities Technician also provides occasional support to other departments, including, but not limited to deliveries, pick-ups, mail tasks, and other duties as required.
This position will be required to be available for on-call hours including nights and weekends. This position frequently lifts and carries equipment and supplies weighing 50 lbs. This position also requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including snow, rain, heat, and cold.
Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- High School education and related experience
- Valid VT driver’s license
- Strong mechanical skills including the ability to complete minor plumbing, heating and electrical repairs.
- Experience operating machinery such as snowblowers, lawn mower, etc.
- Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- A professional, positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Proficient in computer usage, including email communications and some software applications.
- Excellent listening and feedback skills.
- Ability to respond to urgent issues at the office in a rapid manner.
