QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Has the ability to assist in organizing and supervising a high school softball program.
2. Has previous successful softball coaching experience (Preferred)
3. The assistant coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of softball
and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to
the field.
4. The assistant coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through
his / her instructions and actions.
REPORTS TO :
The Head Softball Coach and Athletic Director.
JOB GOAL :
To assist in creating a competitive softball program.
Assist in creating a strong fundamental softball skill base.
Assist in building a strong softball situational game knowledge base.
To upgrade his / her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS :
1. Complete all IHSAA Required Coaching classes via the NFHSlearn.com
2. Pass a limited criminal background check
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the LaVille.
Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for assisting in their implementation.
2. Has knowledge of existing IHSAA regulations; implements same consistently and
interprets them.
3. Understands the proper administrative chain of command and follows it.
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Support the fundamental program philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by softball coaches.
2. Participates in staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program.
3. Accept delegated and perform duties assigned from the head coach.
4. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director / principal.
EQUIPMENT :
1. Monitors locker rooms and coaches' offices.
2. Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the
facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
3. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
