Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Benefits Advisor with a primary focus on managing phone communications, providing benefit advisory, and completing phone enrollments. The role involves working closely with union members to assist them in understanding and enrolling in the benefits available to them. The position also includes administrative tasks to support the enrollment and benefits management process.
Responsibilities:
Phone and Communication Management:
- Answer, make, and direct phone calls.
- Provide general support to members via phone, email, text, and mail.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of current policy booklets to answer member inquiries accordingly.
- Organize and schedule member follow-up communications.
- Manage email inboxes and faxes, responding or distributing information accordingly.
Benefit Advisory and Enrollment:
- Facilitate and improve the onboarding and enrollment processes over the phone.
- Educate and enroll members in benefits coverage, ensuring they understand their options and the enrollment process.
Administrative Assistance:
- Provide general administrative support and organize schedules to enhance workflow and productivity.
- Manage communication with members regarding their billing and work status.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to various audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proven experience in a high call volume setting and customer service environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid Life and Health Insurance Licenses in IL or the ability to obtain them upon hiring.
- High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree or relevant coursework preferred.
- Proven experience in benefits management, administrative roles, or similar positions preferred.
Ability to:
- Learn, retain, and explain the eligibility requirements and benefit options of multiple member groups and insurance carriers.
- Build and maintain relationships with members.
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Multi-task, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively.
- Embrace change and remain adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.
- Type 50 words per minute.
