Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher at KIPP Tulsa University Prep High School is a critical member of the instructional team who ensures that students with exceptionalities receive high-quality, individualized instruction that supports their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. This role involves collaboration with general education teachers, families, and service providers to ensure students receive the support and services outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction to students with IEPs in inclusion, resource, or self-contained settings using evidence-based strategies and curricula.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum and assessments for students with diverse learning needs.
Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction, monitor progress toward IEP goals, and drive decision-making.
Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring that families are fully informed and engaged in the process.
Provide case management for students with IEPs, including documentation, communication with stakeholders, and progress reporting.
Implement positive behavior support plans and utilize restorative practices when appropriate.
Maintain accurate records in compliance with IDEA and Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) guidelines.
Collaborate with school psychologists, counselors, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to meet students' needs.
Serve as a model of KIPP’s core values and contribute to a strong, supportive school culture
Modeling a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure that each student is successful
