Job Summary
An expo, short for expeditor or kitchen expediter, is responsible for coordinating the final presentation of dishes in a restaurant. They act as a liaison between the kitchen and the waitstaff, ensuring that orders are complete, properly plated, and meet quality standards before being served to customers. Expos often communicate with chefs, organize tickets, and manage the timing of food preparation to ensure a smooth flow of service. Responsibilities
- Communication: Effectively communicate between the kitchen staff and the front-of-house staff. They relay information about orders, special requests, and timing.
- Order Checking: Ensure that each dish meets the restaurant's quality standards before it is sent out to the customer. This includes checking for accuracy, presentation, and completeness.
- Timing: Coordinate the timing of each dish to ensure that all items in a table's order are ready at the same time. This helps in delivering a seamless dining experience.

Qualifications
- Previous bar/restaurant experience preferred
- ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification, or willing to obtain
- TABC Certification or willing to obtain one
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communications skills
- Works well with others
- Excellent conflict resolution skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a courteous, friendly and professional demeanor
