We are looking for an Industrial Data System Engineer to develop robust data collection systems and experimental tools, enabling data-driven insights for process optimization during line bring-up and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build comprehensive data collection systems tailored to complex manufacturing processes, including forging tool geometry optimization and precision heat treatment.
- Develop and implement experimental frameworks to rapidly evaluate process parameters, supporting real-time decision-making.
- Integrate and extend our SCADA/MES systems to capture high-fidelity data streams, enabling advanced analytics and visualization.
- Collaborate closely with process and automation engineers to identify critical data points, sensor needs, and integration requirements.
- Prototype and deploy custom sensor integrations or IoT solutions as needed to enhance data richness and accuracy.
- Create and maintain a data playground platform, allowing key engineers and stakeholders to easily access, analyze, and visualize process data.
- Facilitate a culture of data-driven experimentation, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
- 3 years of experience developing data collection systems, sensor integrations, or experimental tooling in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in developing integrations with SCADA/MES systems; experience with industrial communications protocols preferred
- Solid programming skills in Go or equivalent language
- Proven ability to rapidly prototype data collection hardware/software and integrate diverse sensors.
- Expertise with modern data analytics, visualization tools, and platforms (e.g., Python, Jupyter, Grafana, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or similar).
- Exceptional communication skills, able to clearly articulate experimental outcomes, technical requirements, and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with advanced statistical methods or machine learning techniques applied to manufacturing processes.
- Experience in metallurgy, forging, heat treatment, or related processes.
