Job Overview
We are seeking a fulltime skilled and detail-oriented Flexographic Printing Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining flexographic printing presses (Webtron, Mark Andy, and Aquaflex Instaflex) to produce high-quality printed materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of printing processes, color management, and quality control, along with proficiency in following processes.
Responsibilities
- Operate flexographic printing presses to produce various printed products while ensuring adherence to customer specifications and Unique Label standards.
- Monitor the printing process for consistency in color management and quality control throughout production runs.
- Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment and cleans/lubricates presses/machines using oil, solvents, and rags.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Utilize pallet jacks and forklifts when necessary for material handling within the production area and storage area.
- Our Printing Press Operators must adhere to all plant and company safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
- Reports all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and area by completing daily housekeeping assignments.
- Completes make-ready in accordance with the Job jacket and Product Specification documents to ensure correct print cylinders, inks, substrates, tooling, and rollers are used.
- Loads, positions, and adjust tooling on holding fixtures or in the presses.
- Responsible for completing all required quality checks related to product specifications, visual, and functional checks before production approval.
- Inspects and examines printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications.
- Maintains consistent quality during the production run. Critical quality checks includes: copy, color, and registration, and ink adhesion. Ensure conformance to all other quality checks.
- Responsible for completing all related procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined.
- Completes press make ready's in a timely efficient manner.
- Completes all required equipment maintenance duties.
- Cleans plate, cylinder, and ink pans, and lubricates press as needed.
- Turns handles, pushes buttons, move controls and levers to start and control press.
- Blends and tests inks to PMS system for printed runs and maintain consistent color.
- Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Experience as a Flexographic Printing Operator or in a similar role within the printing industry.
- Strong knowledge of prepress processes, color management techniques, and quality control measures.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently.
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to read a ruler, use a caliper, and other measuring devices
- Be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift.
- Be able to reach, kneel, stand, sit, and lift tooling/materials.
- Be able to stand/moving 95% of workday.
