What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reefer/Boiler maintenance Technician III position at UniSea?
Basic Function
Provide support for the overall maintenance effort in a timely manner. Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of plant processing equipment and frequently responsible for the work of subordinates.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for specialized repair and maintenance in a particular discipline (such as ammonia refrigeration, package boilers/power plant operations, etc.), and hydraulics as assigned.
- Complete routine maintenance on related equipment, such as piping systems, burners, HVAC, condensing units, and evaporators.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of complex equipment associated with the production facility.
- Supervisor, mentor and work as a part of a team to accomplish all work tasks.
- Develop a strong working knowledge and understanding of all UniSea Dutch Harbor industrial and food processing plant layouts, systems and equipment, as well as understanding their specialized task within the operation. Coordinate with Maintenance Leadership to prioritize plant maintenance tasks as situations arise.
- Ensure that industry standard work habits are incorporated into all job tasks.
- Responsible for contributing to the overall preventative maintenance program within the current framework.
- Responsible for completing speedy and effective maintenance during plant downtime.
- Responsible for providing well-arranged documentation of work tasks and contributing to the overall record keeping effort inside the CMMS framework.
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy by closely monitoring the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area. Responsible for staying abreast of current policies as they relate to safety, environmental, etc.
Secondary Duties
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- High school plus two years of college or a vocational degree required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food production equipment repair and maintenance. Previous seafood industry experience preferred but not required.
- 2 or more years of industrial ammonia refrigeration maintenance experience preferred.
- Frequent (over 50%) exposure to undesirable elements with several continuously present.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
This is an hourly non-exempt position located in Dutch Harbor, Alaska with a rate of $23.58 – $30.65 per hour.
