Summary/Objective
The Business and Ag Loan Assistant is part of the Business Banking Department and reports directly to the Chief Credit Officer – ND Region. The primary responsibility of this position provides administrative support to the Business Banking/Ag Lenders. This position also assists with the processing of Consumer loans and provides other customer service functions to the bank’s customers.
Essential Functions

- Produces and processes all business and agricultural banking loans. Ensures loan documentation is accurate and complete. Orders coupon books as needed.
- Monitors Business and Ag bank loans for proper insurance and renewal coverage.
- Monitors Business and Ag loans for real estate property tax payment status and past due deficiencies.
- Maintains ticklers system to monitor financial statements, tax returns, and insurance documentation deficiencies and renewals.
- Processes all bank paid loan files, including filing real estate satisfactions and UCC terminations when needed.
- Scans department loan documents into Director.
- Prepares monthly reports for Board of Directors meeting along with various other daily, weekly, and monthly lending reports for the department.
- Accepts and posts loan payments. Processes all bank loan payoffs and loan advances. Forwards loan payments to participants banks.
- Completes FHLB checklists on all Business and Ag loans closed. Creates and submits FHLB Monthly and Quarterly bank reports.
- Monitors participated loans. Ensures documentation is copied and forwarded to participating banks of all new sold loans and throughout the term of the loan.
- Monitors non-posting of business banking and consumer loans.
- Monitors the Abstract and Filing Fees account daily and balances the checkbook monthly for ND and AZ.
- Balances general ledger accounts daily/monthly.
- Reviews booked business banking and consumer loans to ensure accuracy, completeness and documentation of appropriate information.
- Files and tracks UCC and other forms with Register of Deeds/Secretary of State and files continuations and extensions when necessary. Requests lien searches and obtains credit reports per loan officer request.
- Performs real estate title searches.
- Processes charge-offs and recoveries for Business Banking Department.
- Assists Business Banking Lenders with technical exception follow up by sending letters or contacting the customers to obtain documentation.
- Provides backup for other Loan Assistants and Receptionist.
- Consistently demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
- Follows all Unison Bank policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, 10-key calculator, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position. The employee is occasionally required to move about inside the office as well as position self to maintain files and file cabinets. The employee is regularly required to handle paper documents and operate a computer and keyboard. The employee is regularly required to communicate with customers and other staff members and exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and documents.

Required Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent; 6 months to 2 years of related experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

3 years of administrative support.
