VP of Technology

Unison
Omaha, NE Full Time
POSTED ON 4/2/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/2/2025

About the role:

Unison is entering an exciting hyper-growth phase, and we're looking for a visionary Vice President of Technology to lead our technology organization into its next evolution. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic, strategic, and hands-on leader to shape the future of our technology, teams, and platforms—all while delivering real impact for our customers, partners, and investors.

Reporting directly to the President, the VP of Technology will own Unison's end-to-end technology strategy and execution. This includes leading a high-performing team of front-end, back-end, and data engineers, overseeing all external technology partners, and managing Information Security, IT, and Help Desk operations. Additionally, this leader will provide strategic leadership on the adoption of emerging technologies, especially AI, to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and business growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical leadership experience, a strong strategic vision, and the ability to scale teams and systems in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hybrid position with a requirement of 3 full days in our Omaha, Nebraska office or 2 full days in our San Francisco, California office.

Responsibilities:

  • Set and execute the company's technology vision, aligning engineering initiatives with Unison's broader strategic goals.
  • Lead and grow a cross-functional technology organization, including engineering (front-end, back-end, and data), Information Security, IT, and Help Desk teams.
  • Oversee all external technology partners and contractors, ensuring quality, security, and strategic alignment with internal efforts.
  • Provide strategic leadership on the adoption of emerging technologies, especially AI, to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and business growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Growth, and Business stakeholders to develop and deliver agile, innovative, and customer-first technology solutions.
  • Champion best practices in agile development, DevOps, testing, and delivery.
  • Define team goals and KPIs, track performance, and foster accountability through clear metrics and leadership.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing, inclusive, and mission-driven culture within the technology organization.
  • Proactively manage risk by leading information security strategy and compliance efforts, ensuring our systems and data are protected.
  • Oversee core IT operations and Help Desk support to ensure seamless, reliable service delivery across the organization.

About you:

  • Proven experience scaling and leading high-performing technology teams across engineering, infosec, IT, and support functions.
  • Strong background managing a mix of internal staff and external partners to execute complex, cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern stacks and tools such as React, Node.js, AWS, Jira, GitHub, Slack, and agile methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of emerging technologies, including AI, and the ability to assess their application to business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and retain top technical and leadership talent.
  • A strategic thinker with exceptional execution skills and the ability to translate vision into action.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • A passion for technology, innovation, and building products that make a real difference.
