RESPONSIBILITIES:

Baystate Health, Health Unit Clerk/Patient Care Technicians have a dual role expected to function as a Patient Care Technician or Health Unit Clerk depending on unit needs. Responsible for direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs. While working as a Health Unit Clerk, prepares medical records (copies of the chart, completing all appropriate forms, obtaining signatures, faxing patient demographics, obtains imaging discs) before patient transfer. Ensures all pages are accurately labeled with correct patient information. Facilitates the collection/dissemination of vital patient and department information, answers intercom and relays messages properly to team members. Also responsible for, but not limited to arranging ambulance and other external transportation, including Life Flight for patients transferring to other destinations. Includes obtaining authorizations, providing patient demographics, medical necessity, provider and nursing signatures as required by the transportation provider.

SCHEDULE:

• 36 hours per week
• 1st Shift: 7:00am-7:30pm
• Every other weekend and holiday
• Differential pay for weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association, required
• High School Diploma/GED, required
• Prior experience as a monitor tech or CNA in a hospital setting
