Duties:
- Provide attentive and nurturing care to children in a church setting.
- Create a safe and engaging environment for children.
- Assist with classroom management and implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities and play.
- Communicate professionally and appropriately with parents and guardians
- Respond to text, phone calls, or emails from supervisor in a timely fashion
- Ratio for the Nursery is 1:5 with two attendants present at all times. Children are to be under the age of 7 in first service and 5 and under in second service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of play areas.
- Child care may be requested for special events on evenings and weekends but work events outside of Sundays will be mutually arranged with the Director of Religious Education. There is usually 1 -3 events a month.
Skills:
- Experience working with children, either through babysitting, nannying, or caregiving roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, other staff, and church members
- Patience and the ability to handle challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and developmental milestones.
- Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Ability to complete Child/Infant First Aid & CPR Training
- Dependable and responsible – must have reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with early childhood education services through high school or college curricula
- Completed DCYF MERIT STARS Training
- Active certification in Child First Aid/CPR
- Communicates well verbally and in writing
