What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool and Die Apprentice position at Unitech Precision Gage?
We are currently seeking an entry level Manual Machinist for 1st Shift to join our great team of experienced tool makers as an Apprentice. This position requires an individual who is able work independently and is highly ambitious. This Apprentice will go through an 8000 hr program geared at building hard gages and other machined parts by setting up and operating various manual/jig grinding, boring, milling and wire EDM machines while maintaining quality, safety standards, records and equipment.
*Full Job Description:* * Set-up, adjust and operate basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations. o This includes aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories or materials onto the machine. * Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. o Measure, examine or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications. * Document actions by completing required paperwork * Perform minor mechanical and assembly work as needed * Share expertise and knowledge throughout the machine shop. * Follow all safety policies and procedures always. * Maintain a clean and organized work environment * Perform other duties as assigned. *Minimum Qualifications:* * High school diploma/GED * 3 years machining experience with advanced knowledge of machining operations or 2 year Technical Degree * Must understand basic math and dimensions/tolerances. * Ability to read blueprints, engineering plans, procedure manuals and work instructions. * Forklift / Crane certified * Ability to lift 50 lbs.
