POSITION SUMMARY
As a Sanitation Associate at United Against Poverty, you play a critical role in helping to shape our member experience. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and want to join a team dedicated to helping to end poverty.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our facility, working through a regular checklist of sanitation needs as well as responding to spills and/or other sanitation issues as they arise. As a Sanitation Associate, you have a BIG impact on the first impression our members and guests have when they come to our facility.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Cleaning and suppling designated building areas including the member share grocery area, lobby areas, etc. This includes dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, garbage removal, restroom cleaning, and more.
- Performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities.
- Carrying out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.
- Notifying management of occurring deficiencies or items needing repair.
- Stock and maintain supply rooms.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the facility is properly maintained.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and regulations.
- Comply with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regulations for cleanliness and upkeep of the Member Share Grocery Program.
- Assisting with all other MSGP department projects as needed.
ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
- Previous experience working in a similar sanitation and/or janitorial position.
- Positive attitude, even in the face of adversity.
- Ability to work well and collaborate with others.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 2-3 years of janitorial experience
- Custodial training or vocational certification preferred
- Willingness to work nights and weekends on a regular schedule
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for long periods of time in place and move frequently throughout the day. Must be able to push, pull, bend and lift up to 25lbs without assistance.
