Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager, Catering Strategic Initiatives will lead the functions of strategic planning and business transformation for Catering Operations. This role will manage a portfolio of initiatives to include proof of concepts, business case evaluations, and full-scale project implementations. Additionally, this role will collaborate with other operating groups and business partners to enable United’s growth plan and prioritize innovation and process improvement opportunities. This role will also build relationships with key stakeholders to achieve consensus, execute projects successfully, and facilitate measurement of success.

  • Ideate, project manage and execute a prioritized portfolio of complex cross-departmental and cross-company projects, from idea and analysis stage, through development, testing and implementation
  • Lead cross-functional teams to optimally run several concurrent projects and coordinate implementation plans
  • Build relationships and improve collaboration in a way which allows partnership with internal and external groups on initiatives from the beginning and better influence outcomes as a result
  • Execute solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, and statistical modeling
  • Update leadership and key stakeholders on initiatives by preparing and delivering presentations on a regular basis

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4 years of experience in catering operations, or inflight/airport operations
  • Ability to motivate, drive vision and provide leadership
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proven track record to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and decision-making capability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Travel required 10%

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree or 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Industrial Engineer degree
  • Continuous Improvement certification
  • Two years of experience in process improvement and/or project management/process planning
  • Experience managing operational team and/or cross-departmental or cross-company teams
  • Knowledge of safety and security programs and government and TSA regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of implementing sustainability practices across planning and implementation of tasks
  • Corporate Real Estate (CRE) or facilities management experience

The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
