What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Estimator position at UNITED ALLOY INC.?
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Cost Engineering Manager, the Estimator will estimate costs and prepare price quotes for product applications required by customers using various calculators and systems already in place, along with preparing spreadsheets to aid in costing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Demonstrate expert knowledge and hands-on experience in laser cutting processes and forming techniques.
• Optimize laser cutting parameters to achieve precise and high-quality cuts in various metal materials.
• Develop and implement efficient forming strategies to meet production goals while maintaining product integrity.
• Analyze and improve existing laser cutting and forming processes for increased efficiency, reduced waste, and enhanced product quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate laser cutting and forming processes seamlessly into the overall manufacturing workflow.
• Program and operate laser cutting and forming machines to produce parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine programming, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing productivity.
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of laser-cut and formed parts to identify and address any deviations from specifications.
• Work closely with design engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration throughout the manufacturing process.
• Provide technical expertise and support to other team members as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in laser cutting and forming.
• Lead or participate in R&D projects to explore new technologies and methods for continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in laser cutting and forming processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in programming and operating laser cutting machines and forming equipment.
• Strong understanding of materials, metallurgy, and fabrication processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
