What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer II position at UNITED ALLOY INC.?
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the site Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer II will develop and implement best practices and methods for fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly processes to improve productivity, enhance ergonomics and overall plant flow. This position requires occasional travel for such tasks as training, investigation, field repair, and equipment commissioning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate production process methods to identify and implement process improvements and reports out results of improvement activities via A3 methodology
Leverage data to drive continuous improvement in Earned Vs Paid metric and First Pass Yield
Use MRP and CAD software to create fixtures and tooling and route the jobs through manufacturing operations
Troubleshoot and implement corrective actions on a timely basis, including root cause corrective action
Participate in project management and resolve relevant issues and complete tasks on time
Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors and CWIs to implement effective solutions to a wide variety of production challenges
Provide technical support to Work Force Development for integrating training programs for direct and indirect labor, including orientation, process changes and updates and any other technical training needs
Leads ECN process for ME Team by distributing ECN workload, validating accuracy, and maintaining best practices database for lessons learned
Leverage existing data to drive project prioritization with focus on Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and Delivery
Qualification of new processes, including documentation, training and certification of production operators/technicians
Work independently with limited supervision and deliver excellent results on time
Communicates well with all levels of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
2-4 years of experience in a Process or Manufacturing Engineer role
Ability to extract, analyze, and drive results through data
Experience in custom fabrication and welding manufacturing site with high mix low volume product lines
Must possess effective written, verbal and oral communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Kaizen / Continuous Improvement experience a plus, as well as 5S methodology
Understands principles of Lean such as lead time reduction and SMED
Willing to work flexible shifts and change work schedules to support production
