WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately, including changes to benefits, 401(k) deductions, and other adjustments, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, tax regulations, garnishments, and company policies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise the highest level of discretion when handling sensitive employee data.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll and HRIS data to ensure accuracy for hires, terminations, changes, and overall data integrity while identifying areas for improvement.
- Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, including issues with direct deposits, uncashed checks, wage attachments, and other related concerns, using discretion and efficiency.
- Manage and track employee time-off balances, accruals, and leave management within the system.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data, prepare payroll-related reports, support payroll reconciliations, and maintain alignment with compliance standards.
- Stay informed on updates to payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices, making recommendations as necessary.
- Manage and respond to unemployment claims, employment verification requests, and other payroll-related agency notifications.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve time-sensitive payroll issues promptly, including those that arise outside standard work hours when necessary.
- Identify, develop, and implement process enhancements and systems for tracking payroll adjustments, such as referral and training bonuses, to streamline operations, improve accuracy, and drive operational excellence.
- Manage and process adjustments for short-term disability payments and related payroll changes.
- Ensure the accuracy of time tracking and approvals, escalate unapproved hours as needed, and track/report temporary employee time to staffing agencies.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading payroll processes for multi-state organizations, with a strong understanding of payroll laws, tax compliance, benefits administration, and the ability to audit and validate data accurately.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems; UKG Pro preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
