What will you be doing?
United Aviate Academy (UAA) is actively seeking a qualified and reliable facilities technician to support the campus working in partnership with the Manager of Facilities. As the technician for facilities, you will be responsible for installation, repair, and upkeep operations of the UAA campus that includes dorms, grounds, pool, and all other of the academy facilities. Your duties will include light maintaining machinery, planning repair activities, and assisting with developing maintenance procedures and policies.
If you have proven experience in building repair and upkeep, with excellent organizational and leadership abilities, then you are the person for us. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of facilities machinery and equipment, landscaping, pool upkeep, dorm upkeep, and general building maintenance. In addition, outstanding written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Technician of facilities will work in partnership with the Manager on planning, developing, coordinating, and fully implementing building maintenance. The technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance for UAA’s twenty-eight acre. Continually monitors progress toward identified goals and objectives in an effort to support continual improvement and upkeep of United Aviate Academy grounds while developing, implementing, and coordinating student services programs to include:
Responsibilities for Technician
- Complete daily workload log; prioritizing with manager
- Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
- Monitor electrical and hydraulic systems of facilities to ensure functionality
- Ability to execute on all repair and installation activities
- Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities
- Ensure that designated buildings and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required
- Ensure health and safety policies are complied with
- Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
- Maintain all machinery to ensure it’s at working standards
- Assist with regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems
- Ensure to all safety policies and procedures
- Assign repair schedules
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Proven experience as a facilities technician role
- Experience in executing building/maintenance repairs
- Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems
- Strong knowledge facilities machines and equipment
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff members
- Experience working for a small to mid-size growing business that is part of a larger company is a plus
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Degree from a vocational school is a plus
- Degree in business administration, facility management or similar field is a plus

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Physical demands consist of strenuous positions required to reach desired areas needing to be repaired and/or walking from building to building across the campus. Ability to stand throughout longs periods of times while using a wide variety of tools needed for building fixes/repairs. Ability to lift tools, parts, and equipment varying from 10lbs – 50lbs or ability to use tools that can lift more when needed. Work environment consists of a building maintenance.
