United Bank & Trust, a full-service community bank in Marshalltown, is seeking a lender to join our team! If you are an experienced commercial/ag lender or credit analyst, then this might be just the opportunity you're looking for! Duties of the position include:
Regular hours Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Saturday morning rotation (once every 5-6 weeks)
May occasionally include hours outside of regular work hours to attend networking events, community events, or client meetings.

- Generating new business and profitable loan growth through effective, proactive calling efforts on existing and potential clients, including presenting banking proposals to prospects.
- Building strong relationships with employees, existing customers, and centers of influence to facilitate referral opportunities.
- Networking, developing partnerships, and actively participating in community organizations and activities (often in leadership roles) acting to enhance the image of the organization.
- Originating, underwriting, and closing new and renewed commercial/ag loans.
- Managing existing loan portfolio to retain high credit quality and compliance with all laws and regulations relating to the lending function and internal loan policy.
- Maintaining knowledge of commercial lending, agriculture lending, retail banking and wealth management products and services to enhance presentation to existing clients and prospects during cross-sell efforts.
- Assuring the consistent delivery of customer service to maximize customer satisfaction and retention.
- Identifying customers’ needs through effective listening skills, asking clarifying questions, and communicating opportunities to the customer, referring to other lines of business as appropriate.
- Representing the bank and promote a positive image through active community involvement.
- Cultivating a culture that supports our core values of Excellence, Integrity, Ownership, and Community.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of previous commercial or agricultural lending experience, preferred.
- Prior experience with SBA lending is advantageous but not required.
- Prior experience with Moody’s is advantageous but not required.
- Prior experience with FSA lending is advantageous but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with focus on relationship building.
- Strong computer literacy, with knowledge of computer software (i.e. Microsoft Windows Operating System and Office applications).
- Well organized, accurate and detail oriented.
- Knowledge of lending regulations, compliance, and procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
- Ability to work independently or in team environment.
- Strong reading, writing, and basic mathematical skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to resolve challenging customer situations.
