What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collector position at United Business & Industry Federal Credit Union?
This position is responsible for collecting the outstanding debt of the credit union's loan portfolio. The collector will contact members by phone, mail or in person and inform them of their debts, negotiate payment plans, and ensure payments are made as soon as possible. You may also be required to institute legal action when payments are not made.
The collector will review the credit unions delinquency listing and contact overdue members. The collector will work with members to resolve their delinquency and offer solutions to help them. The collector will use credit union attorneys and insurance agencies to assist in the collection of debts. This includes the use of skip tracing and repossession companies. The collector will report to the Chief Financial Officer and prepare monthly reports on the status of delinquent members.
The collector will possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. The ability to negotiate successfully with our members. The collector must have a minimum of 1 to 3 years as a debt collector. The collector must also have familiarity with State of Connecticut debt collection laws. The collector must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. The collector must have a high school diploma or equivalent. While not a requirement bilingual is a plus.

Pay: $23.50 - $25.50 per hour
