Job Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing and coordinating the outgoing shipment of finished goods, including tasks such as generating shipping documents, creating shipping labels, monitoring shipment status and coordinating with logistic providers to ensure on-time delivery, providing customers with shipment information, all while maintaining detailed records and adhering to company shipping procedures; this role involves a minimum amount of physical labor such as lifting and moving packages in a warehouse environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Fields shipping questions and complaints; when the issue is beyond the representatives knowledge, forwards to the shipping supervisor.
- Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customers problems and concerns.
- Maintains shipping documents and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.
- Respond to customers via telephone and/or e-mail for the purpose of providing information or resolving customer issues.
- Process orders and generate shipping documents via company shipping software.
- Interface with production control, credit and/or purchasing departments to resolve shipment issues and inquiries.
- Develop knowledge of company products using department reference materials (including Kabinart.com) as a resource to handle technical inquiries.
- Respond to requests from dealers and designers which include but are not limited to: scheduled ship dates, tracing lost shipments and shipping discrepancies.
- Notify customer of shortages within a shipment.
- Transmit ship notifications (ASN) to customers.
- Post shipments on DAT board for carrier.
- Operate shipping manager software for FedEx.
- Create all shipping BOLs for trucks & LTL shipments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills including active listening.
- Service-oriented and able to resolve customer grievances.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Shipping experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and phone
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
