With UCP Heartland's FULL-TIME Employment Specialist / Job Coach Position you can put your networking experience to "work" AND help UCP Heartland provide those living with differing abilities the extraordinary care and support they need to thrive EVERYWHERE!
You will be meeting new and unique individuals, use your creativity and advocate in the community for those with disabilities and help our clients realize their personal goals for successful long-term employment.

A little bit about the job responsibilities :
Establish sound, positive relationship with the community and consumers by marketing the program to funders, families, school personnel and potential consumers.
Foster and maintain meaningful relationships with potential, current and past employers / volunteer sites that demonstrate the passionate commitment of the Agency to its mission of life without limits for those with disabilities.
Complete direct services which primarily include discovery, exploration, job preparation, job development, transporting clients to and from assessment activities and to and from job interviews as needed, and may include coaching and long term supports.
Find appropriate employment opportunities for individuals supported in the program and make placements accordingly.
Develop thorough, complete and professional written plans for program participants to facilitate long term placement and / or career advancement of individuals on appropriate job sites.
Develop professional outcomes, goals, consumer resumes, cover letters and other internal and external communications.
Assist consumers with practice / mock interviews to ensure that they are prepared and ready for job interviews.
Provide supports needed at the job sites to minimize job losses and meet minimum contact requirements.
Ensure that services, documentation, support plans, data collection and progress summaries are completed accurately and within designated time frames by both participating in these processes and through the monitoring of consumer case files.

Requirements :
Proactively foster consumer and employer satisfaction by providing job coaching and follow-along support to program participants, which may include physical or mechanical assistance and may require extended periods of standing or walking for up to 8 (eight) consecutive hours.
Ensure productive use of time and control expenditures by planning cost-effective travel routes, centering development activities in related areas, and managing a caseload of assigned people effectively.
Good working knowledge of computers, software applications, and databases.
Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Understanding of learning and developmental needs of the disabled with the ability to be flexible and alter strategies based on the needs of the individual.
Must be able to pass any background, law enforcement, or related security clearance, screenings or other specific requirements as required by the Agency and / or employment sites (i.e. health specific) for the purpose of providing any and all services through the department and / or Agency.
MUST have a valid driver's license, readily available and reliable transportation and provide vehicle insurance that meets minimum requirements for transporting passengers from the State of Missouri DMV record to meet the Agency requirements and pass the Agency Driver Training Program.
Maintain training and certification consistent with Agency requirements.
Use the EHR (Electronic Health Records) system to complete all applicable documentation.
Ability to sit, stand, bend and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 100 lbs. using proper lifting and acceptable transfer techniques for the disabled.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred :
Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, social work or other related human services field from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience.
Experience in vocational rehabilitation programs.
Knowledge of the local / regional economic conditions, availability of funding from Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Mental Health and SB 40 Boards.
One or more years’ experience with persons with severe physical disabilities.
One or more years’ experience in supported employment programs
