Job Specifications: (Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required)
The School Nurse is responsible for nursing services on the assigned campus.
Required skills/experience include:
- Knowledge of Pediatric Developmental Conditions and Treatment Modalities.
- Knowledge of school system health care systems/processes (i.e., Health Care Plans)
- Able to work effectively with a diversity of individuals.
- Flexible/Adaptable to change
- Strong problem solving and customer service/confidentiality skills.
- Able to work independently and on multiple projects.
- Organized/Good Follow through/Attention to Detail
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure Health Care Plans are developed and implemented for all children with health needs.
- Ensure intake packets/medical history for students are reviewed upon admission to ensure all medical needs are documented/communicated to all needed parties.
- Ensure immunization records, weight/height and vision hearing assessments are completed/in compliance and properly recorded.
- Ensures parents are notified in case of medical emergencies or illness and tracks to ensure updated emergency forms/post-incident forms are completed.
- Ensures that medication forms are used to dispense medication to students with doctor orders.
- Provide documentation for Medicaid billable services.
- Provide/coordinate various nursing/medical training for staff including First Aid/CPR, Medication, Universal Precautions, Seizures, etc.
- Provides specialized care for chronically ill/medically fragile students (i.e. g-tube, toileting assistance), and medication administration.
- Administers first aid for minor cuts and injuries and provides first aid care/support for ill students and staff.
- Documents all first aid, and minor medical procedures provided
- Inspects for head lice.
- Maintain emergency contact records.
- Cares for student until parent arrives (in isolated location)
- Provides training and modeling for staff.
- Provide documentation for Medicaid billing.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Minimum – Licensed Practical Nurse LPN, or Registered Nurse RN
Minimum Experience:
Experience working with medically fragile/chronically ill including various procedures (i.e. g-tubes, seizures, diabetes, trach tube).
Salary : $18 - $25
