Job Overview
Are you ready to have a fun summer? Join UCP as a Camp Counselor for our inclusive summer day camp! As a Camp Counselor, you can create a fun, safe, and caring environment for teens. You will be responsible for guiding campers through both independent and community based activities, fostering their friendships with others, and ensuring their safety and well being throughout the camp experience. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with teenagers and have experience in education, psychology, healthcare, or social work.
Duties
- Be present and engaging
- Facilitate and motivate camper participation in planned activity groups
- Foster positive relationships with campers, encouraging teamwork, respect, and inclusivity.
- Assist in managing group dynamics and resolving conflicts among campers effectively.
- Manage campers routines for food, water, sun screen, quiet time, activity, and medication.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and with parents or guardians regarding camper progress and any concerns.
- Supervise and encourage the campers self-directed activities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the camp facilities and equipment.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance camper-counselor dynamics
Skills
- Background in special education or experience working with people that have diverse needs is a plus.
