Founded in 1953 as United Cerebral Palsy of Lackawanna County, today UCP of NEPA provides an array of services for children and adults with various disabilities. Although we have expertise in the field of cerebral palsy, over 75% of the people receiving our services have disabilities other than cerebral palsy.
The service area of each program differs but our overall area encompasses Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Pike, Bradford, Monroe, Sullivan and Luzerne Counties.
The agency is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and is a member of United Cerebral Palsy Association, United Cerebral Palsy of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Association of Resources: Autism-Intellectual Disabilities (PAR), and the National Lekotek Center.
Primary program funding is provided by: PA Department of Human Services - Office of Developmental Programs and Office of Child Development & Early Learning, the Lackawanna-Susquehanna Behavioral Health-Intellectual Disabilities-Early Intervention Program, the Wayne County Office of Behavioral & Developmental Programs and Early Intervention, the Human Services Development Fund of Lackawanna County, the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the United Way of Lackawanna & Wayne Counties, the United Way of Wyoming County, the Pennsylvania Elks State Association, PIAT - Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology, and the Scranton Area Foundation.

Basic Function:
A Day Program Professional (DPP) is a professional position that is primarily responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) in an adult day program setting.
Job Description:
- A DPP will support the individuals in UCP's Adult Day Program with their activities of daily living to include, but not limited to, personal care, medication administration, preparing and/or serving meals, coordinating activities within the community, participating in community engagement activities of the individual's choice, as well as transportation to and from activities and to their homes.
- A DPP will demonstrate and be able to perform monthly fire drills.
- A DPP will work collaboratively with their co-workers and the individuals in the Adult Day Program to ensure a positive & nurturing atmosphere.
- A DPP will report any safety and/or maintenance concerns to the Director of Adult Services.
- A DPP will be responsible for implementing the Individual Support Plan (ISP) as prepared by the person-centered planning team.
- A DPP will demonstrate the ability to reinforce the philosophy of the agency, as well as demonstrate basic knowledge of the PA Chapter 2380 regulations for licensed adult training facilities.
- A DPP must complete (24) twenty-four hours of in-service training, inclusive of fire safety training annually. Trainings are provided by the agency.
All Direct Support Professionals/Day Program Professionals will receive paid training, CPR/First Aid training, program vehicle trainings, and other trainings as required by Local, State and Federal requirements.

Part-Time schedule is as follows:
8:30am-2:00pm:
- Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday (Part-Time 27.5 hours/week)
