About the Job:
We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Professional to join our team at United Community Action Partnership, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services to our community as a part-time bus driver.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up and drop off passengers according to the daily schedule and dispatch instructions.
- Making informed decisions about route planning and bus operation in real-time.
- Selecting the most efficient route to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Collaborating with colleagues to plan routes and schedules for special events.
- Ensuring the safe operation of the bus and adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Following all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines from MnDOT, Agency, and Program.
- Conducting pre- and post-trip bus inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Representing the organization in a positive and professional manner to the public.
- Communicating effectively with passengers, colleagues, and management.
- Treating passengers with dignity and respect, and addressing any issues professionally.
Requirements:
- A valid Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role.
- The ability to:
- Understand and apply knowledge of road use, laws, and regulations.
- Interact with people in a courteous and professional manner.
- Effectively communicate in writing, orally, and through interpersonal interactions.
- Operate a two-way radio and tablet to maintain communication.
- Safely operate a 9-23 passenger bus and wheelchair lift in various conditions.
- Read maps and navigate through unfamiliar areas.
- Manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attend work regularly and maintain a high level of reliability.
- Pass a DOT physical and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
- Complete a satisfactory background check.
