JOB STATUS: Full time (40 hours), 9 Month (October - June), Non-Union position
LOCATION: Worthington, MN
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tax Program Specialist will, in coordination with Tax Site Coordinator/Tax Program Manager, oversee the delivery of free tax services to income-qualifying families and small business owners at community-based tax sites, assist with volunteer recruitment and tax credit outreach.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Coordinate Daily Operations of Tax Sites.
- Coordinate the Tax Program Outreach Efforts.
- Conduct Tax Credit Outreach Efforts.
- Assist in Data Collection and Report Preparation.
- Support and Model United’s Behavioral Competencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED, plus one – two years’ related experience. Experience with basic tax preparation is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to be self-directed.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Skilled in prioritizing work responsibilities.
- Flexibility in work schedule to include evenings and Saturdays during tax season.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess a reliable, insured vehicle for travel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to be self-directed and complete work on time.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, integration of services and of issues faced by low-income people in the nine (9) county area.
- Priority given to candidates with the following experience: interpretive skills of a second language and experience with diverse communities, recent immigrants and/or English-language learners.
- Must be able to participate in the training provided and attain tax preparer certification within 60 days of hire.
