IT Help Desk Technician - Auburn, IL

United Community Bank is seeking an IT technician to join our Helpdesk team. The ideal candidates will have the drive to grow in to a Security, Network or Systems Administrator.
This individual will work from our Auburn, Illinois location and will be responsible for end user computing support with additional support for our Systems Administrators. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of approved diagnostics and help tools, as well as require that the individual give hands-on help at the desktop level.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate urgency of issues, select, and take appropriate steps toward resolution or escalation
- Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and scanners on users’ premises.
- Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.
- Provides telephone, in-person and online support to end-users.
- Keep all assigned non-ticket tasks up to date along with resolution dates for each task
- Responsible for imaging and building workstations and laptops
- Responsible for patching user machines and servers
- Responsible for Active Directory user changes, maintenance, and general housekeeping
- Assist in support for audio/visual equipment in the conference and training rooms.
- Working knowledge of mobile device technologies and OS
- Responsible for printer maintenance and troubleshooting including print server and print queues
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of all end user Desktop FAQs and “How To” articles
- Escalate network/technical issues to IT Helpdesk Manager, and provide sufficient information to maintain continuity to assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Provide proactive communication and notification to users of pending or upcoming problems, outages, or other service issues
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- An Associate’s Degree or Vocational Training in Computer Science/MIS from an accredited college, university, or vocational program or equivalent experience. We will consider candidates nearing completion of their degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with computer hardware (preferably in an enterprise environment)
- Professionalism and customer service experience
- The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal directions
- Advanced working knowledge of the Windows and Mac OS operating systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical aptitude
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a track record of achievement
- Networking knowledge is a plus
- The ability to pass a Federal background check

Travel Required:
Yes – travel to remote branches as needed using IT Vehicle (up to 25%)
Eligible candidates must provide reliable transportation
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Physical Requirements – This position may exert up to 25-50 pounds of force occasionally. Requires infrequent amounts of standing, bending, walking, carrying, pushing or pulling.
May require infrequent climbing, kneeling or crouching. Frequent and regular telephone usage as well as operation of other standard office equipment for required tasks.
Mental Requirements – Performs routine tasks requiring independent knowledge, and its application to a variety of situations. Requires sound judgment.
Pay Range: 17.00-21.00
A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including applicable experience, training and education.
