United Community Bank is in search of a CFO. In summary this position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management in the development, operation and delivery of services for the Accounting Department. Responsible for adhering to all generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory laws and regulations to adequately and accurately reflect the financial position of the Bank and its holding company. Will oversee the areas of accounts payable / receivable and general ledger accounting functions in accordance with the Bank's financial policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develops, implements, and administers the Bank's financial and accounting related policies, procedures and systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting and sound financial management
  • Oversees all financial management activities, including business transactions and all accounting functions throughout the Bank
  • Oversees the maintenance and review of records and controls to ensure the accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles of the Bank's reported financial results
  • Oversees the maintenance and establishment of a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk
  • Responsible for reviewing, approving, and / or completing various financial and statistical reports as required by funding and regulatory agencies
  • Supervises the financial statement preparation and ensures the financial statements contain complete, appropriate and accurate disclosures
  • Supervises and coordinates the completion of the annual audit, and of any special financial or statistical audits
  • Assures compliance with applicable local, state, and national regulations, accreditation standards, and licensure requirements
  • Assists with special projects requiring financial oversight and review, including acquisitions, planning of new branch openings and / or closings, new product offerings, system changes or other financial analysis as needed
  • Assists with the development of the Bank's budget and assures fiscal accountability and efficient utilization of resources within the Bank
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and training of accounting staff. Assist with the oversight of all other human resource functions within the department. Submits periodic written staff personnel reviews. Assures effective utilization of department staff
  • Oversees the completion of various financial and statistical reports as required by various internal auditing and external regulatory agencies
  • Assures that timely and useful financial information is generated as requested by the executive director, executive staff, and boards of directors
  • Perform daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department's activities and the Bank's financial records
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels by proactively participating and contributing to a positive work environment, controlling emotions and temperament, and exhibiting courteous, respectful, and professional behavior at all times
  • Maintain familiarity with bank products and services
  • Maintain familiarity with all regulatory standards
  • Maintain familiarity with and uphold all Bank policies and procedures including policies and procedures related to this position
  • Complete all training requirements as assigned
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations or Required Training : MBA or CPA

Uniform / Dress : Employee must follow personal appearance policy

Work Hours : Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire daily schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences should be avoided. Scheduled shifts are typically 8 hours. A 1-hour lunch will be provided if all applicable conditions are met.

Education, Experience, Skills and Qualifications :

  • Master's Degree in applicable field is desired along with CPA Degree
  • Knowledge of financial institution accounting and auditing
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Problem Solving / Analysis skills
  • Ability to manage and execute more than one task at a time
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to work situations
  • Ability to independently perform duties, establish priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Ability to adhere to safety and compliance regulations and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in a decision-making capacity that is consistent with established policies, procedures and business practices
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and comprehend the level of confidentiality that comes along with the position and protecting employee's, customer's and bank information.
  • Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products, electronic mail, internet software as well as other various software programs used in the course of day-to-day business. Individual should also be able to effectively and efficiently enter data into various software programs utilized in the course of day-to-day business activities.

    Equipment : This position generally uses office equipment throughout the course of conducting day-to-day business such as but not limited to computer, keyboard, mouse, scanner, phone, calculator, fax machine and copy machine.

    Work is mainly performed indoors however the employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. With exposure to the general public and co-workers the employee may also occasionally be exposed to various illnesses, bloodborne and airborne diseases / viruses, and bodily fluids. The employee may also occasionally be exposed to chemicals and solvents. The employee will infrequently work around moving parts. The employee may also be exposed to loud noise levels on an infrequent basis. The work may also involve some exposure to other hazardous conditions not otherwise identified.

The position requires the ability to occasionally climb stairs, balance, stoop, bend and twist neck, waist and back, crouch and kneel. The position frequently requires manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation, fingering and touching objects. The position frequently requires operating a computer keyboard, telephone, and other equipment and the operating of the equipment will consist of repetitive movements. The position occasionally requires reaching with hands and arms above and below shoulder level. The position requires the ability to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection of documents, and operation of equipment. The position frequently requires reading, speaking and hearing in the English language both in person and over the phone. The position requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling and / or moving up to 50 pounds. The position requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling and / or moving up to 25 pounds.

    Occasional travel may be required to conduct the essential functions of the position (bank training, meetings), this requires the ability to drive or the ability to secure other means of transportation.
