Join our team as a Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer and lead the charge in fostering community growth and compliance excellence. You'll oversee a dynamic CRA program, ensuring we meet regulatory standards while addressing the needs of low- and moderate-income individuals within our assessment areas. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining our Satisfactory or better CRA rating and driving our commitment to community development.
About the Role: What You’ll Do:
- Risk Reduction & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to minimize risk and enhance operational efficiency.
- Reporting: Keep senior management and committees informed with timely reports on CRA efforts.
- Committee Participation: Contribute to Fair Banking Committee meetings and lead the CRA Task Force.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on new regulations and coordinate changes with management.
- Policy Development: Create and monitor policies to ensure CRA compliance.
- Vendor Management: Ensure vendor functions are effectively tested.
- Training: Develop and deliver impactful CRA training programs.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate CRA data and report to regulatory agencies.
- Self-Assessment: Conduct periodic self-assessments to identify potential gaps.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report key performance and risk indicators.
- Assessment Area Review: Ensure our assessment area is inclusive and non-discriminatory.
- Risk Assessments: Maintain and update risk assessments based on changes.
- Documentation: Document CRA qualified investments, donations, loans, and volunteer hours.
- Community Outreach: Identify and address community needs within our assessment area.
- Collaboration: Work with various teams to identify investment opportunities and community involvement.
- Product Development: Assist in creating loan programs and new products for community financial security.
- Program Updates: Annually update the CRA program and recommend targets.
- Internal Resources: Maintain the internal CRA landing page for employee resources.
- Examinations & Reviews: Coordinate regulatory examinations and internal reviews.
- Performance Evaluation: Review and analyze CRA Performance Evaluations.
- Compliance: Implement corrective actions for compliance deficiencies.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop direct reports, including performance evaluations and training.
- General Support: Serve as a resource for compliance questions and assist with budget and strategic planning.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in regulatory compliance of banking laws and regulations or related experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or professional certification (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) preferred.
- Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal banking laws and regulations (e.g., CRA, HMDA, ECOA, FHA, SCRA, UDAAP).
- Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
- Leadership and relationship management abilities.
- Proficiency in CRA, HMDA, and Fair Lending software; excellent MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
- Data analysis experience is a plus.
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Experience in staff management and audits.
- Collaborative team player.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position includes managing employees, focusing on their coaching, development, and performance management.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
- Location: United Community Headquarters (United Center) in Greenville, SC.
- Schedule: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Travel: Up to 20% travel required.
