About the Role:
The Data Governance Analyst plays a crucial role in comprehending business and IT processes associated with data governance and management. This role involves deploying data governance methodologies to identify critical data assets and systems of record. You will support data stewards through education and the facilitation of a data-driven culture, ensuring adherence to Data Governance Policies.
What You’ll Do:
- Project Support: Support a prioritized portfolio of enterprise data-related projects related to Data Governance.
- Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Be the point of contact for interaction with data stewards, subject matter experts, IT, and the Chief Data Officer’s teams to address data concerns.
- Data Definitions: Partner with Data Stewards, Subject Matter Experts, and Information Technology to define and maintain data definitions and expectations.
- Guidance and Decisions: Provide guidance and act on decisions regarding data definitions, taxonomy, and identification of reference data.
- Education: Educate Data Stewards and subject matter experts on Data Governance policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Product Ownership: Act as a Product Owner of Data Governance Software (such as business glossary and lineage software).
- Collaboration: Coordinate business interests and collaborate with cross-functional Data Stewards, Compliance, Product, and Technology in the development of the Data Governance and Data Management solution.
- Training Programs: Participate in the design and development of training programs to educate data producers and consumers on new data management processes across the data lifecycle.
- Inventory Management: Develop and maintain an inventory of information maps, including authoritative systems and owners.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data-related policies, standards, roles, and responsibilities.
- Issue Resolution: Lead resources from the Business, Functional areas, and IT to achieve objectives and resolve issues escalated from data governance representatives.
- Data Coordination: Coordinate data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline expenses related to those services.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in the financial services industry.
- 1-3 years of experience capturing and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Experience with Data Governance capabilities like issue management resolution, metrics, data glossary, lineage, metadata management, policies, procedures, and controls.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
Required Skills:
- Exposure to Data Governance or Data Quality concepts.
- Understanding of related functions in financial services such as finance, operations, sales, marketing, risk management, data architecture, and technology solutions.
- Ability to identify problems/opportunities, analyze root causes, and present recommendations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and training skills.
- Ability to explain concepts to non-technical and technical clients and colleagues.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with multiple business partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to manage demanding deadlines, expectations, and re-prioritize.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Trust Administration & Operations.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position does not manage employees.
Working Environment
- Schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- This position requires up to 25% travel.
