Position Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Small Business Banking Portfolio Manager! In this pivotal role, you'll bridge the gap between our sales force and risk management, ensuring our loan portfolio thrives. You'll analyze and make decisions on credit packages, balancing profitability and risk management strategies.
What You’ll Do:
- Portfolio Management:
- Oversee monthly portfolio management reports (past dues, upcoming maturities, financial covenants, etc.) to minimize credit exceptions.
- Update and review critical compliance standards like Financial Covenants and Reporting.
- Proactively identify and address weak loans.
- Support and Compliance:
- Assist account managers in meeting group risk goals and adhering to UCB Bank pricing and credit policies.
- Make initial decisions on transactions and strategies, supporting the Small Business Group Underwriting and Portfolio Manager.
- Ensure timely turnaround of loan requests to meet client needs, maximizing profitability and minimizing risk.
- Sales and Client Relationship:
- Advocate for the sales team by identifying cross-sell opportunities within existing relationships.
- Attend market meetings to stay updated on sales efforts, goals, and portfolio performance challenges.
- Decision Making and Approvals:
- Approve client strategies and transactions within delegated authorities.
- Execute pricing matrices to balance risk and return.
- Team Collaboration and Development:
- Foster team synergies through networking and partnerships across UCB.
- Embrace change and promote continuous improvement.
- Provide on-the-job training for Account Managers, trainees, and analysts as needed.
- Compliance Training:
- Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, and other internal and external programs.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in banking (preferably in credit analysis or loan review).
- At least 2 years in Commercial/Business Banking lending/risk management.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Up to 10% travel required.
