Description
Provides quality clinical mental healthcare services to individuals, families, groups, and communities, assessing
their mental health needs.
Essential Functions
1. Provides brief, solution focused behavioral health care with targeted populations. Includes assessments
and intervention geared toward positive behavioral change.
2. Provides quality clinical consultation to medical care providers and UCHC staff in areas of individual,
family, child, and adolescent, regarding behavioral health related issues of clients.
3. Co-manages the patient’s behavioral health care with consistent, expedited feedback to referring
providers. Provides on-site crisis triage and intervention as needed. Interfaces with other departments to
ensure effective utilization of IBH services
4. Maintains proper documentation in medical records according to quality clinical guidelines. Completes
and submits encounter forms and ensures proper coding of encounters
5. Conducts psychiatric evaluations, therapy sessions and compares treatments of BH medication therapy.
6. Collaborates with relevant community organizations to establish resource networks. Promotes a smooth
interface between medicine and specialized mental/behavioral health care. Conducts presentations and
education sessions as appropriate.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
1. Participates in clinical consultation with Behavioral Health Supervisor as appropriate.
2. Participates in Quality Improvement Initiatives and ongoing continuous improvement efforts as
appropriate.
3. Provide in-service to UCHC staff or community members at least once per quarter on various program
related issues (i.e. education, available resources, case reviews, needed services, etc.).
4. Attends and participates in staff meetings and all mandatory in-service training. Also participates in
voluntary in-service or outside trainings and staff meetings as appropriate.
5. Assists in orientation and training of new staff and/or student externs as appropriate.
6. Provides support and back up to Community Health Specialists and other team members as appropriate.
7. Acts as Wellness Center team member and contributes to relevant health promotion and QI projects.
8. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required:
- Graduate degree in Nursing and Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in the field of Behavioral Health
- Reliable vehicle and proof of insurance
- Excellent English oral and written communication
Preferred:
- Integrated behavioral health philosophy
- Experience working on an interdisciplinary team
- Bilingual Spanish/English
Licensure/Certification
- State of Arizona License and ANCC Board Certification
- Current CPR certification
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
Experience/Skills
- Possesses experience in the following areas: patient confidentiality, documentation, community resources, and patient-centered approach to care.
- Able to interact effectively with a wide range of professionals and staff, both internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently and exercise autonomous judgment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals, audiences, families and staff
- A team player; able to work in and foster a team environment
- Demonstrated computer literacy and experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Knowledge of AHCCCS, managed care, and mental health programs in Arizona
- Familiarity with the medical, behavioral and social problems of rural and low income families and individuals in southern Arizona
