Program Mission
Our Saturday program is committed to fostering independence and social inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities. Through hands-on, experience-driven activities, we aim to empower participants to develop essential life skills in a setting that values community and inclusion. The program emphasizes practical skills such as safe practices, money management, healthy social skills, household management, nutrition, and physical fitness, all within a fun, engaging, and supportive community setting.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver innovative, interactive content for adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on independent living and social skill development.
Integrate academics, enrichment, and experiential learning to create a well-rounded, engaging experience.
Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and encourages community participation.
Adapt activities and teaching methods to accommodate a range of learning styles and developmental needs.
Collaborate with other professionals and volunteers to continuously improve program quality and participant engagement.
Qualifications
Proven experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in an educational, programmatic, or therapeutic setting.
Expertise in designing fun, engaging, and educational activities that promote independent living skills.
Strong ability to adapt content and approach to suit diverse learning styles and developmental needs.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with a diverse community, including other professionals, families, and community members.
Demonstrated passion for promoting social connections and independence among adults with developmental disabilities.
Work Schedule
Saturdays
6-8 hours
Preferred Skills and Certifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
Background in teaching independent living skills or providing life skills coaching.
Training in safety protocols, health and wellness for adults with developmental disabilities, or adaptive physical education.
